Shania Twain invited Drake Milligan to join her on stage over the weekend for a performance of her fan-favorite duet, “Party For Two,” at Calgary Stampede.
Twain appeared at the 10-day long event, dubbed The Greatest Outdoor Show on Earth, as the parade marshal and also performed at the Scotiabank Saddledome for a sold-out crowd. During this show, she welcomed Milligan to the stage, surprising the audience with her special guest.
“From this song, he’s gonna rush off stage and go on to his own show to perform. He’s a real trooper,” she told the crowd. “I’m very privileged to be able to sing with him and I want you to give him the biggest, warmest welcome here to Canada and here to Calgary, please welcome Drake Milligan.”
The Texas native joined Twain on stage and was welcomed with a roar of applause. He confessed his love for the city of Calgary and its cowboys and cowgirls before Twain questioned, “Are you ready to party, Drake?”
“I’m so ready,” he promised.
Then, the pair joined forces to deliver a playful rendition of the song, which originally features vocals from Billy Currington. (A pop version that features Mark McGrath was also released).
“Party For Two,” written by Shania Twain and her then-husband Robert John “Mutt” Lange, became her third highest-charting debut at country radio in 2004.The duet with Billy Currington peaked at No. 7 on the country charts and was nominated for CMA Musical Event of the Year.
Following the performance, Twain took to social media to express her gratitude toward Milligan for performing with her.
“Ain’t no party like a @calgarystampede party! 💃🕺🏼 Big thank you to the very talented @drakemilligan for jumping onstage to join me for a party for two before his own show mere moments later,” she wrote.
Milligan was quick to reply, writing, “Such a blast! Thanks for having me.”
Twain, a native of Canada, was thrilled to be welcomed home for the event.
“I don’t even know where to begin – Calgary, you guys have a special place in my heart,” she reflected. “Thank you for giving me the huge honour of being your 2025 @calgarystampede Parade Marshal and a big thank you for your love, vocals and energy inside @scotiabank.saddledome for me, my band and my party for two partner @drakemilligan!”
Twain, who recently wrapped up her lengthy Las Vegas residency, is scheduled to perform at various festivals throughout the month of July and will also headline a number of shows throughout the summer.
Meanwhile, Milligan is working on new music between a massive touring year opening for the likes of Blake Shelton and Luke Bryan.
