Tigirlily Gold found themselves immersed in tail wags and puppy kisses from a few furry friends of Proverbs 12:10 Animal Rescue during their appearance on the Pupdate. It was hard to focus on anything other than the adorable dogs crawling into their laps, however, sisters Krista and Kendra Slaubaugh managed to find a balance between belly rubs and dishing on their latest single, what fans can expect from their upcoming album, touring with Carly Pearce and more.
They may have grown up with cats in the house, but the pair of singer/songwriters have turned into big dog lovers. Kendra has a golden retriever of her own named Nala, and while Krista is a great dog aunt, she has yet to enter her dog mom era. However, that could all change as she appeared to have fallen in love with a puppy on set named Tito.
“I feel like a squirrel right now. I can’t even pay attention to what you’re saying to me,” Kendra joked.
“I think this one has chosen me,” Krista added while admiring the adorable pup who was happily accepting a belly rub from her.

Behind Their Latest Single ‘Forever From Here’
Doing their best to stay on track, the pair opened up about their latest single, “Forever From Here,” and revealed how the story is connected to their roots.
“So it’s about where we grew up, which is in North Dakota. So it’s very Midwest, rural, small-town vibes, and it has kind of that early 2000’s country musical vibe to it, which is what we grew up listening to,” Kendra proudly shared. “And then I have been with my now husband, we’ve been married for almost six years, but we’ve been together for over 15 years. We met in our hometown of Hazen, North Dakota. And so it’s about growing up there and envisioning your whole life with someone. So it’s really, for me, it’s the song that we’ve written that’s the most true to my story.”
Krista went on to note that the heartfelt tune is mostly centered around Kendra’s two favorite things – her home and her husband. She also pointed out the reference to the harvest season which was such an “influential” time in their lives growing up.
“It was the best time of year fall. Everyone’s in good spirits just like these puppies,” she explained.
Album No. 2 In The Works
The tune was written back in December by both sisters alongside Pete Good and Shane McAnally. It was very intentional for the duo to release “Forever From Here” when they did as it now sets the tone for their sophomore album, which they revealed is “not done yet, but in the works.”
“I think it was very intentional because it set up the record really well,” Kendra explained as the puppies caused chaos around her. “I think it’s the tone for the whole record and we’re excited because it’s really leaning into that sound of that early 2000s. It’s what we grew up on, but kind of a fresh modern take of that. And so we hope people just feel that nostalgia and that just kind of lightness and love when they listen to it.”

They’re also hoping to bring “Forever From Here” to life with a music video filmed in their hometown. However, their biggest goal with this song is to earn their first-ever No. 1 at country radio. They had a strong start to this goal as the tune received 93 first week adds upon impact, making it the most added first week song from a female duo/group since 2019.
Krista recalled their reaction to the news admitting, “We just freaked out. We’ve never had a song be most out of the country radio before, so man, we were just shocked and excited.”
Kendra chimed in to say that a lot of hard work has gone into this accomplishment – between being on radio tour for almost three years and having several songs on their airwaves. As a result, getting to see their hard work pay off has been “really exciting” for the duo.

New Album To Feature An Abundance Of Girl Anthems
At the same time, they are working on their next project and are eager to share fans what they have in store. This collection will follow their first full length album, Blonde that dropped last year and spawned top 40 radio single “Shoot Tequila,” along with their top 30 single, “I Tried A Ring On.”
“Yeah, there’s definitely a lot of different elements to the album. I will say we recorded a song that definitely has a little more ‘90s flare. This song gives a little more early 2000s, but our modern take on all of that. But just a lot of girl anthems empowerment still through all of it,” Kendra teased.
They also hinted that there will be more “love songs than ever” because as Krista explained, they are both “in love and happy about it.” As Kendra shared, she has been married to her husband, Jared, for nearly six years while Krista just got engaged to her boyfriend of almost two years, Walker Montgomery.

Tigirlily Gold has been gearing up for their next album drop while lighting up stages across the country at major festivals like Stagecoach and select dates on Carly Pearce’s Hummingbird World Tour. Along the way, they’ve found inspiration and support in the strong women paving the way in country music.
“I mean, it’s been amazing to have women in this industry to look up to. Kelsea [Ballerini] had us open for her at Madison Square Garden, Ashley McBryde was the one who asked us to make our Opry debut. And we were just out on the road with Carly Pearce,” Kendra shared.
Heartfelt Memories With Carly Pearce
They also shared a heartfelt moment from the road with Pearce, who after their first show together invited the sisters to got some much-needed rest by riding on her bus to the next stop. Pearce’s only request was that they promise to repay the gesture to someone else one day.
“She goes, ‘girls, I know you’re going to get about three hours to sleep tonight because you have to fly to the next location. So instead of doing that, you’re not doing that. You’re not getting three hours of sleep, you’re going to get 10 hours of sleep and you’re going to come ride my bus with me,’” Kendra recalled.
As if that night wasn’t special enough, they also joined Pearce on stage for a cover of The Chicks’ “Cowboy Take Me Away.”
“We love touring with people that are friends. It just feels like one big girl’s night, truly,” Krista said with a smile before Kendra added, “And we’re truly fans of, I mean, we love everything she does and so proud of her and her journey. So yeah, it was awesome.”
Additionally, they recently got to perform in Texas ahead of the 2025 ACM Awards alongside their fellow members of this year’s Opry’s Next Stage class.
“We’ve got to play the Opry now 16 times, which is insane,” Kendra admitted. “I never ever thought that that would be something we would get to do. And so yeah, we’re so excited to be part of the class…it’s just truly an honor to be part of that class and it means everything to us.

While celebrating the achievement, Krista couldn’t help but keep her eyes on the adorable puppies playing at her feet. She even promised Tito, who stayed close by her side, that if she were to adopt him, she would take him to the Opry with her. The puppy looked up at her longingly, almost as if he understood what she had just told him.
Fans will next have the chance to catch Tigilily Gold at CMA Fest, where they will be performing at Nissan Stadium on June 5 and Chevy Riverfront Stage June 6.
