Riley Green has notched another major career milestone. Today (Monday, June 16), the Alabama native scored his fifth career No. 1 with his steamy single, “Worst Way.”
The steamy, fan-favorite track rose to the top of the Billboard Country Airplay Chart, Mediabase Country Airplay Chart, Mediabase Canada Country Airplay Chart, and UK Country Radio Airplay Chart.
“Worst Way” is not just another No. 1 under Green’s belt, it’s also a rare feat for a country music act. It’s only the second song solely written by the performing artist to reach the top of the Billboard Country Airplay chart since 2012, making Green just the sixth solo artist in two decades to do it. To top it off, the tune also earned a RIAA double platinum certification today, adding to its growing list of achievements in a remarkable year.

The Rise Of “Worst Way”
With its catchy tone and addicting storytelling, fans fall in love with the passionate slow-tempo song immediately upon release. It gained even more traction with the music video, which has since become a global No. 1 hit.
The self-penned song has remained a stand-out on Green’s latest album, Don’t Mind If I Do. The song offers minimal production elements, allowing listeners to focus on the some of his steamiest lyrics to date. Within the storyline, Green paints a vivid picture of a passionate night with his lover, suggesting they skip the typical romance, like wine and roses, and get straight to the physical connection.
He sings, “I want you in the worst way/ My hands are needin’ your hips/ Want the first taste/ Of whiskey to be off your lips/ So close all the blinds, lock all the doors/ Put away anything that’ll break/ Baby, I need you tonight/ Let’s see how much love we can make/ I want you in the worst way.”
Thanks to the song’s powerful impact the singer/songwriter’s latest string of compliments further proves that his signature vocals and songwriting skills have made him one of the biggest names in this generation of country music.
