Parker McCollum Unveils 14-Song Track List For Self-Titled Album

Parker McCollum has revealed the full track listing for his highly anticipated fifth studio album, PARKER MCCOLLUM, due out June 27.

The album is comprised of 14 powerful songs that McCollum considers some of the best music of his career. Fans got their first taste with lead single “What Kinda Man,” and then got a deeper look into its rich, soul-baring direction with “Hope That I’m Enough” and “Big Sky” before his most recent drop, “Killin’ Me.”

When asked what this self-titled project as a whole means to him, McCollum honestly told Country Now and other outlets, “I don’t Know.”

“I know that I love it a lot and I’ve never ever felt that after being in the studio…I’ve really never left the studio and felt like I did something that I wanted to put out ever. And I’ve always put it out anyways. And so it’s probably the kiss of death, the fact that I finally like something so much,” he shared.

Produced by Frank Liddell and Eric Masse and recorded across just seven days at the legendary Power Station in New York City, PARKER MCCOLLUM gave the Texas artist the chance to find a sound that truly fits who he is as an artist without putting himself in a specific box.

He teamed up with celebrated songwriters like Jon Randall, Randy Rogers, Lori McKenna, Randy Montana, Liz Rose, Natalie Hemby, Monty Criswell, and more to share his stories an craft a collection meant to be listened to from start to finish.

Teaming Up With Cody Johnson

Today’s news reveals that he included just one collaboration on the album — a cover of Danny O’Keefe’s “Good Time Charlie’s Got the Blues” featuring Cody Johnson.

“I’ve always wanted to hear Cody sing that song. I kind of did it for selfish reasons, really, just because I wanted to hear Cody Johnson sing that song,” McCollum admitted.

The inspiration to record such an iconic song stemmed back to his days of touring in just a van and a pickup truck and listening to classic country tunes on the long drives. Many of these songs have stuck with McCollum to this day as they remind him of that time in his life.

“I’d been thinking about cutting this song on a record for a while. I’d always wanted to kind of give it a shot and I’d always wanted to hear Cody sing it, so I just must’ve been drinking or something that day that I finally mustered up the courage to text him. And I just said, ‘man, I’m going to cut this on my record.’ I was like, ‘I would love for you to sing the second verse on it.’ And he’s just one of my favorite singers ever. I mean the guy’s voice is stone-cold…Cody’s always been someone kind of looked up to, he is from Texas around the same part of the state. And it just kind of seemed like a cool sentiment.”

“Good Time Charlie’s Got the Blues” is one of just two songs on the album Parker didn’t write, alongside “Enough Rope.” He also included a single solo write  titled “Permanent Headphones.”

With this forthcoming album, Parker McCollum is ready to invite fans into his world while honoring his roots and celebrating his love for storytelling.
