Loretta Lynn’s granddaughter, Emmy Russell, and her husband, Tyler Ward, are asking fans for prayers as they navigate a health scare with their baby girl, Taylor Raydiant Ward.
Late Sunday evening, the couple took to Instagram with a joint video post where they explained that their daughter has been having some seizures over the past few days. Initially, they thought that Taylor had just been “fussy” due to teething. However, when Tyler noticed her “small spasms,” they headed to the hospital and learned she might be having small seizures.
Their little one was kept in the hospital overnight to monitor and do an electroencephalogram (EEG), which measures electrical activity in the brain to possibly help diagnose epilepsy or other brain conditions.
“She’s been having these spasms, kind of just like she’s falling almost,” Emmy explained. “And yeah, they were just really concerned about it and wanting to do some, just checking how her brain is and everything. So pray for answers because we really want answers.”
At the very end of the video, Emmy Russell noted how “lonely” it is going through something as difficult is this completely new experience. The parents, who admitted they had been crying all day, asked fans to “pray for normal brain waves” amid the ongoing testing.
“It’s a different kind of hard right now. We’re asking for your prayers, we truly believe they could make all the difference tonight,” they added in the caption.
The post featured several snapshots of baby Taylor, including one of her being wheeled around in the small hospital bed, being rocked by her mom another of her lying in the bed all bundled up looking like a cute little “mummy,” as the parents pointed out.

A few hours later, the parents returned to socials with a brief update. They once again pleaded for their followers to take just 30 seconds to pray for their daughter as experienced another spasm on this morning (July 21). The note also revealed that they are still waiting for the results of the EEG and should be learning more from a Neurologist “very soon.”
“I had felt in my spirit that Taylor is radiant when I found out I was pregnant… that’s why her middle name is radiant. Please speak life over her with me,” the caption read before concluding with the bible verse psalm 34:5, which states “Those who look to him are radiant with joy; their faces will never be ashamed.”
Fans, friends and members of the Nashville community filled the comment section with kind, supportive messages, letting the couple know that there is a lot of people praying for them during this difficult chapter of parenthood.
The Couple’s Journey Of Parenthood
The American Idol alum and her partner broke the news of their first child’s arrival on Saturday, February 1, 2025. They made the announcement using a sentimental clip of Tyler holding his newborn at just 12 hours old in the hospital room.
Unfortunately, they also revealed to fans that Emmy’s labor journey was incredibly difficult. She labored for 36 hours and later learned she had lost 1.6 liters of blood. Luckily, both mom and baby left the hospital happy and healthy at the time.
Saying “I Do” In An Intimate Ceremony
The couple initially met through Tyler’s Nashville company, Song House. Shortly after welcoming their baby girl, PEOPLE broke the news that they had also secretly tied the knot in 2024 with a small, last-minute ceremony that took place in the comfort of a living room.
“Emmy and I had been together for a while, and her heart was just like, ‘I want to be married.’ And then I’m like, ‘I don’t think I’ll ever be married,’” Ward admitted. “And then you think about losing someone that you become best friends with and tight with and you’re like, ‘Maybe that’s what it is. Maybe that’s what marriage is. It’s just like, I don’t want this person out of my life.’”

He went on to say that they were very intention about making sure that the big day was what they wanted and only involved the people closest to them.
“We wrote our own vows. And it was one of those things where you’re like, this to me is how it’s supposed to be, because it was between us.”
So far, the lovebirds, have combined their passion for music and come together to record three songs together – “We Should Get Out Of Here,” “Phone Call to Heaven,” and “London Bridges.”
Through the ups and downs of early parenthood, Emmy and Tyler have continued to lean on their faith, their music, and each other. As they wait for answers about their little one’s health, it’s clear they have overwhelming support from their community.
