Kelsea Ballerini Performs Stripped-Down Rendition Of ‘Baggage’ Alongside Powerhouse Co-Writers On ‘The Voice’

Kelsea Ballerini delivered a very special, stripped-down performance of her current single, “Baggage” during Tuesday night’s semi-finals on The Voice.

With her guitar in hand, the first-time coach appeared dressed in a stunning sheer gown with touches of shimmer accents. The stage was transformed into a gorgeous nature scene filled with wildflowers, a warm sunset and her bandmates nestled throughout, creating the perfect environment for the emotion-filled tune.

Typically, when Ballerini performs “Baggage,” she lets her emotions soar amid a high-energy delivery that has fans screaming every word back to her. However this time, she took a softer approach with the addition of some very special guests – her co-writers Alysa Vanderheym, Jessie Jo Dillon, Hillary Lindsey, and Karen Fairchild.

Each of these powerhouse women sat in the row of seats behind Ballerini and lent their vocals to the tune. As the performance continued, one by one they each moved to join Ballerini in the front row and exuded the purest form of girl power by finishing out the track together.

Images of suitcases flew through the air on the screen behind them, honing in on the song’s message that finds Ballerini being honest about the fact that she’s been through some rough times with her past romantic relationships.

She sends a warning to her new love interest that if he wants to make things work, he’s going to have to accept her “baggage” that comes along with her. While the Tennessee native makes it clear she is ready to leave her past behind her and make space for her future, she’s going to need a bit of support to get there.

“Clear out a drawer, clear out a shelf/ I wouldn’t want to do it with anybody else/ Everything that’s heavy, I check it at the door/ Kind of feel like I don’t need it anymore/ I got some bones of old skeletons/ From the old house at the dead end/ I got baggage, but I’m movin’ in,” Kelsea Ballerini sings alongside her fellow female hitmakers.

“Baggage” appears on Kelsea Ballerini’s 2024 album, PATTERNS and recently became among the most added at country radio following its impact to the airwaves on May 5.

Top Five Revealed

Her unforgettable performance with her fellow co-writers took place on Tuesday, May 13. During that same episode, the Season 27 Top 12 contestants sang their hearts out in hopes of advancing in the competition and fellow coach John Legend performed a song titled “So High,” which appeared on his debut album, Get Lifted, that celebrated it’s 20th anniversary in December.

By the end, we learned who America voted into the Live Finale. Host Carson Daly revealed that Renzo (Team Legend), Lucia Flores-Wiseman (Team Adam), Jadyn Cree (Team Bublé), Jaelen Johnston (Team Kelsea), and Adam David (Team Bublé) are in the Top 5. Adam David secured his spot with the Instant Save.
