Gabby Barrett is ushering in a new musical chapter with an upcoming song that’s expected to channel the energy and attitude of her debut single of 2020, “I Hope.”
While she wasn’t able to spill many details, the songstress did tell country that it’ll “go hard” thanks to the creativity of her co-writers, HARDY, Jon Nite and Zach Abend.
“I’ve been writing and just kind of fleshing out what I want this next chapter of music to be. My last country album that I released was very autobiographical and just talks about the amount of life that I’ve lived quickly within the past couple of years of being married and having three kids and all the things,” she explained to Country Now backstage of the ACM Awards.
Barrett hinted that the new song, with its title still under wraps, will be released this summer.
“This is kind of a new chapter of music, it does kind of echo, ‘I Hope’ a little bit with the sass…It’ll go hard. And so we’re excited. It’ll be out in the summer.”
This next chapter of tunes will continue the momentum of the new level of creative control Barrett established with her 2024 sophomore album Chapter & Verse. For this project, she co-wrote nine of the 14 tracks and, for the first time, co-produced the entire project with GRAMMY-nominated hitmaker Ross Copperman.

Fans will have the chance to catch the new music throughout Barrett’s just announced Life I’m Living Tour, which will feature a mix of fairs and festival dates as well as plenty of headline shows.
The run will launch with back-to-back nights in Nashville, TN on June 5 and 6 as part of CMA Fest and continue with a total of 30 dates all across the U.S., before wrapping October 5 in Ocean City, MD.

Being the hard-working artist and mom that she is, Barrett will hit the road this summer with her husband Cade Foehner — who also serves as her lead guitar player — and their family in tow.
“My husband, he plays lead guitar, so we are always performing together so the kids know we’ve got to get on the bus this weekend. Mom and dad got to go sing and go perform and they love it. They’re excited about it and we’re excited too.”
She added, “The tour is really about obviously the music and the journey the past couple of years, but also flipping that page too, a new chapter of music too.”
When asked how she balances life on the road with being a full-time mom, the American Idol alum opened up about both the challenges and joys of having her three kids out on tour.
“I enjoy both of that a lot. Them honestly being there is really helpful. I can’t imagine doing it without them being there. That would be a lot harder and a lot more pull on the mom heart because being a mom is very important to me,” she admits. “Sometimes, like what you said, sometimes they’ll be going to bed and the nanny will help put them to bed or I’ll be like, ‘what time am I done?’ And then I’m like, okay, this one’s still going to be up and then I see ’em in their pajamas waiting on the bus and it’s the cutest thing. And then we go put them to bed, take off my hair, take off my makeup, all the things. But it’s fun, it’s enjoyable, especially because they’re there.”
