Ella Langley is celebrating a major career milestone as her heart-pounding single, “Weren’t for the Wind” has officially reached No. 1 on country radio. This marks Langley’s second career chart-topper after “You Look Like You Love Me” feat. Riley Green, and her first as a solo artist. Overwhelmed with gratitude, the rising country powerhouse took to social media to commemorate the achievement with a heartfelt message dedicated to the people who helped her get there.
In her initial post announcing that the tune has hit the top spot on the chart, she wrote, “’Weren’t for the wind’ is #1 on country radio baby!!!!! So proud of this song everything that it’s done and continues to do. Thank y’all for loving this song.”

Ella goes on to honor the people who made this song possible, including her co-writers, Joybeth Taylor and Johnny Clawson, as well as the song’s producer, Will Bundy.
She capped off the celebrations with a second, deeply emotional post dedicated to her “sister in song,” Joybeth, and the friendship that fueled their shared dream.
“Sentimental post incoming… Theres no telling how many hours me and @joybethtaylor have put into having this moment together. Since that day on my back porch (the day we wrote our first song) we’ve dreamt about getting a #1 together. Sure, there have been many days that it seemed pretty much impossible, but we always believed. Always,” Ella wrote alongside a carousel of photos documenting highlights of their friendship and musical journey.
She continues to gush over Joybeth’s immense talent and dedication to her songwriting craft, noting how it “inspires me daily.”
“Day in and day out I’ve watched her work her tail off. Writing damn near 300 songs a year if not more (probably more lol). There’s no one more deserving than you JBT. If you love my music, you also love Joybeth. I wouldn’t be the same without my sister in song and my favorite/best writing buddy.”
At the very end of the post, the ACM New Female Artist of the Year admitted that she had tears flowing out of her eyes while reflecting on the fact that they have finally achieved a feat that she and Joybeth have talked about for so long. And the best part is, they get to share this moment together, making the victory all the more special.
“We did it JB 😭,” she added in conclusion.
Joybeth matched Ella’s joyful emotions as she commented, “I’m not Crying, you’re crying….Sharing this with you is truly the greatest…love you so much😭😭🤍”
“Weren’t For The Wind” was penned in the midst of Langley’s opening run on Jon Pardi’s 2023 Mr. Saturday Night World Tour. At the time, she was driving through Wyoming and admiring the beautiful scenery along the road. She channeled exactly what she was feeling among the western plains and in no time, wrote her next single.
The song, which appears on her 18-track project, Still Hungover, officially impacted airwaves in the beginning of 2025 and slowly rose its way up to the No. 1 spot. Since its release, Langley has performed the story of finding power in her independence on countless stages, including at the 60th ACM Awards and at CMA Fest 2025.
With new music in the works, Ella Langley continues her Still Hungover Tour throughout the year, with opening dates with Morgan Wallen and Riley Green scheduled in between.
