Drew Baldridge has experienced a lot of firsts and some major career changes since earning his first-ever No. 1 on country radio with “She’s Somebody’s Daughter.” Today, he announced that his success has brought him yet another milestone – his national TV debut. The must-see moment will take place on Live with Kelly and Mark on Tuesday, May 11 at 9 a.m. ET, when he will perform his latest chart-rising single, “Tough People.”
This exciting moment will come hot on the heels of Baldridge’s continued success at country radio. Within the past year, he’s earned his first No. 1 and now, his second Top 10 hit.
“Y’all just because of you, because you guys have changed my life, country Radio, you have changed my life, I just found out today ‘Tough People’ is officially top 10 at Country Radio and that’s my second top 10 in just a year. I am blown away. Thank you guys so much,” he shared in a new Instagram video.
“Tough People” is more than just a song for Drew Baldridge—it’s a personal reflection of the real-life struggles he’s faced and the strength he’s found through them. He wrote the powerful tune with Adam Sanders, Jordan Walker and Luke Combs with the mindset that these bumps in the road and challenges of life both relatable and opportunities to grow.
The song’s chorus reminds listeners that “hard work pays off, good beats evil, and tough times make tough people,” thus offering a message of resilience and hope without sugarcoating the tough times that he’s encountered.

Biggest Change Since Earning A No. 1 Song
While backstage with Country Now at the ACM Awards, he goes on to admit that one of the biggest change’s he’s experienced since earning his first No. 1 has been the opportunities that have come his way. One of the many doors that has opened is the chance to tour arenas for the very first time with Cody Johnson.
“I think as soon as we got the number one, we got the call to go out on tour with Cody Johnson, And I have never played arenas before, and so to be able to play for 15,000 people in a nice arena is insane. I mean, that’s mind-blowing. So big shout out to Cody for having me out on tour…Going on the road with Bailey all summer, playing more shows with Cody. All that wouldn’t have happened without number one. And I can actually make money touring now. Not go out and lose a bunch of it,” he shared honestly.
Throughout his dates with Johnson, Zimmerman, festival appearances and more, Baldridge will be trading his van for a tour bus, another major first that has been crossed off his bucket list. The best part is that having this extra space will allow him to bring his wife and son on the road.
“When you have a number one, life gets busier than it ever has been and so I just haven’t been able to spend as much time with my wife and little boy as I want to. And so we’re turning the whole back lounge into big bed and we’re going to have plenty of room for them to come. And that’s what I’m really looking forward to,” he shared.
More ‘Big Messages’ To Appear In Upcoming Releases
As “Tough People” continues to climb at country radio, Drew Baldridge is also gearing up to share more new music that he has been “cooking up” for “quite some time.” Much like his past releases, these forthcoming songs are expected to offer even more valuable messages for his fans
“If you hear ‘She’s Somebody’s Daughter’ and you hear ‘Tough People,’ it’s going to be kind of more of the same. A lot of songs that really mean a lot,” he told Country Now following his set at Country Thunder Florida. “That’s something I feel like my fans expect from me. Songs that go a little deeper, not just surface level.”

He goes on to tease that these stories will talk about a woman’s worth and value, mental health, what it means to be a man, and more. However in between the big messages, the full record that he’s currently building out will also feature some upbeat, back road anthems.
“I just think there’s a lot that people when they hear [‘She’s Somebody’s Daughter’], I hope that people can take from this and put it into their lives and receive it as like, ‘Man, it makes me want to live differently. It makes me want to treat my woman better. It makes me want to be a better dad. It makes me want to be a better husband.’ And that’s what I hope people take from this record. It’s all going to be based around farm faith and family because I grew up on a farm and I grew up singing in church, and obviously I love my family. So that’s kind of the three words that make the concept of this album.”
Baldridge has spent the majority of April recording 12 new tracks and he hopes to get to a full record out by the start of next year.
