Country Next: Tristan Roberson

At just 17 years old, Tristan Roberson is doing more than just making noise in Texas—he’s shaking the whole country scene awake.

Hailing from Frisco, Texas, the breakout singer/songwriter and multi-instrumentalist is redefining what it means to be young in country music. With a deep-rooted respect for legends like Hank Williams Jr. and George Jones and a modern edge inspired by Parker McCollum and Zach Top, Roberson is carving a lane that’s entirely his own.

His blend of gritty, traditional country with polished, radio-ready production has already made him one of the most compelling new voices in the genre.

Since releasing his debut single in May 2024, Roberson has racked up over seven million streams across platforms—fueled largely by the runaway success of his first radio single, “Somewhere in Texas.” The track didn’t just take off; it soared, landing on key Spotify editorial playlists like Fresh Finds Country and All New Country, and eventually climbing to No. 1 on the Texas radio charts in just 17 weeks.

With momentum building and a summer tour supporting Texas favorites like Aaron Watson, Josh Ward, and William Beckmann, Roberson is stepping into the spotlight—armed with a guitar, a whole lot of heart, and a fanbase that’s growing by the minute.

So whether he’s singing in a honky-tonk in Houston or a festival stage in Fort Worth, Tristan Roberson brings the same authenticity and fire to every performance.

We caught up with Tristan for our latest Country Next interview to talk about his musical roots, what inspires him, and how he’s navigating the industry at full speed. Keep reading to learn more.

First off, congrats on everything happening right now. How does it feel to have “Somewhere in Texas” blow up the way it did?

Thank you! It’s honestly kind of surreal. I remember writing that song just hoping a few people might connect with it. Seeing it hit No. 1 in Texas and watching the streams roll in has been a dream. It’s wild how fast things are moving.

You’ve got a sound that feels both classic and fresh. Who are the artists that shaped your style?

I’ve always been a fan of a lot of different genres, everything from rock to blues to pop, but country music has always stuck with me because of the storytelling. I connected early on with artists like George Jones, and Hank Jr.. Their songs taught me how powerful simple, honest stories can be. And now, I really look up to guys like Parker McCollum and Zach Top. I love how they blend tradition with something new, and I try to do the same. I want people to hear my music and feel like it’s familiar, but still different enough to stand out.

You just dropped your debut album, One Night In Dallas. What does this project represent for you?

This album is everything I’ve been working toward. It tells stories about where I’m from, what I’ve been through, and where I’m headed. There’s heartbreak, there’s hope, there’s a little swagger—but most of all, it’s honest. I’m really proud of the fact that I wrote or co-wrote every single song on it. That was important to me that this project had to come straight from my voice and my experiences. I wanted it to feel real and rooted in who I am as a Texan and as an artist.

At 17, you’re already sharing stages with some Texas country icons. What’s that experience been like?

Man, it’s humbling. I’ve looked up to guys like Aaron Watson and Josh Ward for years. To open for them and hear that they respect what I’m doing—it’s just fuel to keep going. Every show is a new lesson, and I’m soaking it all in.

You’ve got over 200k followers on social media already. How do you stay grounded through all this?

Honestly, it comes down to my family and my hometown. I’ve got great people around me who keep me focused on what matters. And I try to remind myself that this is about the music and the fans, not just the numbers. I want to earn every step of this.

You’ve also started partnering with brands like Twinstone Hats. How important is that side of your image?

I think everything I do should reflect who I am—on and off stage. Working with brands that line up with my values and my style just makes sense. I’m a Texas kid through and through, and Twinstone fits right in with that.

What’s next for you? What can fans expect this summer?

We’re hitting the road hard this summer—lots of Texas dates, but also branching out to new states. I’m excited to meet fans, play these songs live, and just keep building this thing. More music’s coming too… I’m always writing.
