Country Music Icon Alan Jackson Confirms End of Touring Career

Alan Jackson is officially hanging his hat on his touring career.

The country music icon performed his final road show over the weekend at Milwaukee’s Fiserv Forum. In front of the sold-out crowd of 14,000 fans, Jackson confirmed that this was in fact his last show on the road.

“Y’all may have heard that I’m kinda winding down. In fact, this is my last road show of my career,” he said from the stage, and the audience roared with applause.

“Y’all are gonna make me tear up up here,” the legendary singer/songwriter admitted.

He then let fans in on a little secret, revealing that they are “planning a big finale show in Nashville next summer sometime.”

While details surrounding this finale are yet to be announced, it sounds like it’s going be a show to remember.

@chanobangz Florida got its last Alan Jackson show last night. Glad I got to see it. Next year, he plans on his last show ever in Nashville. We don’t get legends like this twice. “We just felt like we had to end it all where it all started, and that’s in Nashville, Tennessee – Music City – where country music lives. I gotta do the last one there,” he said, later adding, “This is the last one out on the road for me.”

The Country Music Hall of Famer told fans it was “a long, sweet ride” and that he’s “really lived the American dream for sure – so blessed.”

Jackson’s show in Milwaukee was one for the books. He treated the capacity crowd to performances of nearly two dozen hits, including  “It’s Five O’Clock Somewhere,” “Remember When,” “Gone Country,” “Livin’ On Love,” and more.

Alan Jackson is one of the greatest country artists of all time. He is known for his simple, yet impactful songwriting. He has sold nearly 60 million albums worldwide and released over 60 singles, including 50 that reached the Top 10 and 35 that hit No. 1 — 26 of which topped the Billboard charts. Over the course of his career, he’s earned more than 150 major music industry awards.

In 2019, the superstar revealed that he’s living with the neurological condition Charcot-Marie-Tooth — donated a portion of each ticket sold to the CMT Research Foundation. In total, the tour helped raise more than $2.25 million through direct donations, matching gifts, related efforts, and other revenue inspired by Jackson and the tour — all while bringing greater awareness and understanding to the disease.

“It’s genetic that I inherited from my daddy… There’s no cure for it, but it’s been affecting me for years,” Jackson shared during a deeply personal interview with the TODAY show. “And it’s getting more and more obvious. And I know I’m stumbling around on stage. And now I’m having a little trouble balancing, even in front of the microphone, and so I just feel very uncomfortable.”

Through it all, the Georgia native has remained positive.

“I just have to thank y’all for supporting my music all these years, coming to the shows, buying the records and having a good time with us,” Jackson shared. “I’m so fortunate, so lucky.”
