Blake Shelton Talks New Album, Life with Gwen Stefani, and New TV Series “The Road”

Blake Shelton recently sat down on CBS Mornings to share updates on his music, personal life, and his next big move in television.

🎶 New Album: For Recreational Use Only

Shelton is back after a four-year break with his 13th studio album, For Recreational Use Only, released on May 9, 2025. The project includes a mix of heartfelt and fun tracks, including a standout duet with Gwen Stefani titled “Hangin’ On.” Blake described the song’s chorus as one that “just hits you and knocks you down.”

He also teamed up with Post Malone for the track “Pour Me a Drink,” which blends classic country tones with a modern edge, showing Shelton’s continued evolution as an artist.

❤️ Life with Gwen Stefani

Shelton opened up about life with Gwen Stefani, saying their relationship still feels exciting even as they near a decade together. The couple married in 2021 and often collaborate creatively, sometimes rehearsing casually at home before heading into the studio. Blake praised Gwen’s detailed approach to lyrics and how emotionally connected she is to the writing process.

📺 New TV Series: The Road

Now that his time on The Voice has ended, Shelton is launching a new CBS music competition series called The Road, created in partnership with Yellowstone’s Taylor Sheridan. The show will follow up-and-coming singers as they compete for the chance to open for big-name artists on tour. Rather than taking place in a typical studio setting, the series aims to reflect real life on the road for musicians — complete with highs, lows, and unexpected moments.

Shelton shared his excitement about helping discover new talent and offering real opportunities to rising performers.

🌾 Life in Oklahoma

Back home, Shelton has embraced the slower pace of rural life in Oklahoma. He frequently posts fishing trips, farming moments, and family snapshots with Stefani and her three sons. He joked that he doesn’t ask the boys what they think of his songs — “because what if they don’t like it?”

Looking ahead, Blake says they’re keeping their summer plans simple and unstructured — just enjoying time with family and being together.
