LISTEN: Kameron Marlowe Takes Fans Back In Time With Nostalgic Summer Anthem, ‘Seventeen’

Kameron Marlowe is diving into summer with his brand-new single “Seventeen,” a spirited country anthem packed with memories of first crushes, rebellious nights, and the kind of freedom you only feel when you’re too young to know any better.

Leading with nostalgia at its core, the tune was penned by Marlowe with Tucker Beathard, Austin Goodloe, and Joybeth Taylor – with an additional credit to Bruce Springsteen, whose classic hit “Born In The U.S.A.” is briefly mentioned in the opening verse.

“One of my favorite things about music is how it can transport you to a specific time and place,” Marlowe says of the single. “We wrote ‘Seventeen,’ about that feeling you have when you’re young and on top of the world. I spent my summers listening to music on the lake with my friends, getting into trouble and making some of the best memories of my life. I hope this song takes you back there with us.”

Marlowe effortlessly captures the feeling of being young and carefree at 17 years old while exploring a coming-of-age story with a touch of bittersweet realization. As the chorus hits, the narrator finds himself reminiscing over the fact that he once couldn’t wait to grow up, but now he looks back and sees how simple life really was in his teenage years.

The Sony Music Nashville singer / songwriter’s signature baritone vocals light up the track as he sings, “Didn’t know what the real world was/ Yeah, freedom looked more like 21/ All I ever wanted was to grow up fast/ Didn’t think that I’d be looking back at/ Seventeen/ Don’t mind me/ Life was sweet/ At seventeen.”

The release was accompanied by an official music video directed by Matt Paskert and filmed in the laid-back setting of a lake house in Joelton, TN. The video captures a group of longtime friends as they look back on their teenage years, cutting between grainy flashbacks of their youthful antics and present-day scenes of them swapping stories around a back porch card table. Between the music video and the single, fans are greeted with a feel-good tribute to the kind of memories that never fade.

“Seventeen” follows the unveiling of Marlowe’s hauntingly honest and emotional project, Sad Songs For The Soul, and is set to impact country radio airwaves on July 14.

“I’ve been really inspired this year,” Marlowe shared. “Coming off of the Sad Songs For the Soul project, we just wanted to shake it up and have fun. This song feels like summer to me, and it feels like we’re about to have a big one – can’t wait to play these shows for y’all.”
