Scotty McCreery and his wife, Gabi are adding another member to their family! On Thursday, May 22, the couple announced that they are expecting their second child using a joint Instagram post.
They shared the news using a carousel of adorable family photos featuring McCreery and his other half wearing blue jeans and white t-shirts while their first son, Merrick Avery McCreery, sported matching blue jeans as well as a “big brother” long sleeve.
All three members of the family flashed bright smiles for the photoshoot. Avery, 2, even got a few solo shots where he proudly represented his new gig.
The caption read, “A new best friend coming this fall!” with blue hearts.
The Couple Welcomed Their First Child In 2022
The country star revealed to the world that they had welcomed their first child in October of 2022. Their social media post included a series of five photos, including one of their baby boy in his bassinet as well as photos of McCreery and his wife with their precious new bundle of joy.
Baby McCreery arrived 11 days earlier than expected on Monday, October 24 at 4:34 AM and weighed 7 lbs 13oz at birth.
“Never known a love like this,” McCreery wrote in their join Instagram post at the time. “Merrick Avery McCreery joined us 11 days early on October 24th at 4:34am! 7 lbs 13oz of nothin but love!”
He concluded his post by saying, “Thank y’all for all of your prayers during this exciting season of life! Healthy baby and a healthy mama! Praise God.”
McCreery and his wife Gabi first revealed they are expecting their child in late June of 2021. He shared the news of the pregnancy as well as their baby’s gender exclusively with PEOPLE
“We got a little man on the way,” the North Carolina native said with a smile.
“I was the only boy on both sides of my family, the last McCreery boy out there,” McCreery added. “Gabi’s from two sisters in her family, so I just figured it would be a girl. But we got a surprise of a boy.”
Their Love Story
The lovebirds first met each other in kindergarten and in June of 2018, they finally tied the knot and added their dog, Moose, to their family the following year.
McCreery also told PEOPLE that he and Gabi had “always talked about” having children together and that dream was finally becoming a reality.
“We always knew we wanted kids, but we always knew we wanted the first few years to travel and have time on the road, to see things and experience life,” he shared. “We’ve gotten to live a lot of life and do some cool things, so it seems like now’s a good time to settle down a little and expand the family.”
A Busy Year Ahead For McCreery
Their latest news comes at a busy time for the American Idol alum. He just released his newest single, “Bottle Rockets,” featuring the legendary band Hootie & The Blowfish and is now preparing to drop an expanded version of his career-changing album, Seasons Change: Platinum Edition, on June 20.
The nostalgic collection is set to include four additional tracks that were not on the original album, as well as acoustic versions of the album’s three No. 1 singles plus fan favorite, “Still.”
Plus, fans can find Scotty McCreery on stages all across the world in 2025. His next set of shows will take place in the United Kingdom for five headlining shows across Belfast, Glasgow, Birmingham, Manchester and London with Caylee Hammack as his opening act.
He will then return to the states, starting with a show at Nashville’s Grand Ole Opry on June 4 followed by an appearance at CMA Fest in Nissan Stadium on June 5. McCreery also has several fair and festival dates booked throughout the summer.
Despite his baby’s fall due date, he will spend the season co-headlining the Two for the Road Tour alongside Dustin Lynch. The tour is set to kick-off on November 6th in Saginaw, MI.
