Following the success of his 13th No. 1 hit, “Forever To Me,” Cole Swindell has officially announced “We Can Always Move On” as the next radio single from his highly anticipated fifth studio album, Spanish Moss, due out June 27.
The decision to make “We Can Always Move On” his next single came after overwhelming demand from fans and radio programmers following its release across his social channels and digital retailers.

The tune has quickly become a standout among the album’s early tracks and will officially impact airwaves on June 2.
The heartfelt tune was penned by Kyle Fishman, Thomas Archer, and Michael Tyler, with production handled by Fishman and Jimmy Robbins. It continues the multi-Platinum-selling superstar’s streak of emotional and relatable storytelling that’s helped him climb the charts time and time again.
With “Forever To Me,” the Georgia native celebrated his 13th No. 1 as an artist and his 14th as a songwriter. His impressive songwriting includes hits cuts by some of country’s biggest names, including Thomas Rhett’s “Get Me Some of That,” Luke Bryan’s “Roller Coaster,” and Florida Georgia Line’s “This Is How We Roll.”
Ahead of the full release of his 21-track project, Swindell has been steadily sharing early previews with fans through tunes like “Dirty Dancing,” “Kill A Prayer,” “One Day” and the title track.

The story behind the album’s title is just as meaningful as the songs themselves. According to Swindell, Spanish Moss was inspired by a real-life moment on the golf course in Florida with his songwriter buddy, Jordan Minton. The “She Had Me At Heads Carolina” singer recalled Minton asking the name of the long, feathery strands from tree that are generally found in warm climates.
“I said, ‘what, Spanish Moss?’ And it just reminded me of this special memory with my dad after leaving his place near Savannah. One time I got back over to the other side of Georgia and saw something hanging from a gas tank and opened it up and it was a handful Spanish Moss and he left that in there. It’s just kind of how he was. And so every time I see that, it just reminds me of him,” Swindell explained to Country Now backstage at the ACM Awards.
“Obviously the song has nothing to do with that story, but that sparked the whole thing and ended up being, it’s one of my favorite songs on the album. It just seemed like a cool title and vibe of the whole album. So we named it that and it’s special to me.”
He then reflected on the fact that if Minton had never asked that question Swindell may have never found the perfect title for his next album.
“That’s scary to think about that. If he did not ask that question, there’s no chance we would’ve ever talked about that or written a song and the album title would be something completely different.”
Cole Swindell will hit the road this fall on his 2025 Happy Hour Sad Tour, kicking off September 4 in Toledo, OH. The tour, produced by Pepper Entertainment (with Florida dates by AEG Live), will feature special guests Priscilla Block, Logan Crosby, and Greylan James.
